My pH & Me

Your pH level, i.e. your body’s alkaline or acidity level, is crucial in the prevention of cancer & other diseases.

“What is a pH”, you ask? According to the Miriam Webster dictionary, a pH is “a number used in expressing acidity or alkalinity on a scale whose values run from 0 to 14 with 7 representing neutrality, numbers less than 7 increasing acidity, and numbers greater than 7 increasing alkalinity” Cancer thrives in acidic environments, but cannot survive in places of alkalinity. Therefore, the more basic your body is (the higher your pH level), the greater your chances are of staying healthy.

Now, I bet you’re wondering how your pH level takes a rise or fall. It’s quite simple, you see, by the foods you eat! Who woulda thunk it? : )
If you eat only acidic foods, e.g. meat, black beans, olives, blueberries, corn, quinoa, your pH level will drop. Eating acidic foods is not bad, it should just be done like most good things, in moderation. If one day you want to eat some black bean & corn quinoa with some blueberries for dessert, you’ll also want to eat a basic (alkaline based) meal to balance it out. Balance is always the key!

It is important to keep your pH level high so that your body will have a strong defense system. Here are a few examples of basic (alkaline) foods; lemon, watermelon, spinach or any other green leafy vegetable, eggplant, onions, & tomatoes.

You can purchase test strips, for a fairly inexpensive price, to check your pH level. I wouldn’t suggest using them every day for the rest of your life, but they’re good to use several times a day for about a month to keep up with how things affect you. The test strips test your levels through saliva or urine. I keep them in my bathroom & test 4 – 5 times daily & chart my levels each time. I got mine on Amazon,  here

HERE is a pretty good sized list of Alkaline & Acidic foods, check it out!
